Like a phoenix from the flames... or JC himself - I will rise again!
You may think it's strange that I haven't yet started a journal, and some may think it ironic that I am starting one now, but things have just got going, so I see no irony there! I'm not giving up... things are just getting good.

ETA: Just made a tiny spelling correction - K

Silvio! *drily* How charming to have you join us. And if what I read in the papers is correct, once you finally get around to conceding defeat to Signor Prodi, you plan to stay on in the political realm (unlike a certain ex-Chancellor I could mention). *even more drily* How wonderful for Italy! How self-sacrificing of you! Of course, given your rather delicate legal situation at the moment, I can quite understand why you're not willing to trade in political headaches (and immunity from prosecution) for a nice cushy board seat.

Angela, I own the boards! What's a problem?

I am wondering about the problems of an accent... but somehow he just seems to DEMAND that cheesy Italian accent, don't you think? -J

I was thinking you might be looking for a board position outside Italy. Somwhere it might be ... more difficult for people to reach you, if you take my meaning. I'm told, for example, that Tomsk can be quite pleasant at certain times of the year. Not quite the sunny shores of the Mediterranean, but then we all have to make sacrifices at times. Or perhaps you could talk to Tony. I understand the Labour party has ways of showing its appreciation to major contributors. Well, no, perhaps that's not such a good idea after all. I was forgetting that little awkwardness with Tessa and her husband ....

You insult me, Angela... and my family...

I never leave Italia, mia cara! You think a Tomsk is an option? Sure, I can be a legal defence for mio amico vlad_impaler, but I think he better come to me... Russians have a vodka down, the weather needs a work. Ask Tchaikovsky - he preferred la dolce vita in Italia - the wine, the women... well, maybe not a women...

And Brittania?? Don't-a get me started...

Now that Tavi's posted, too (at least, I assume it was her), I think we should resolve a the accent issue... because I'm just cracking myself up writing like this... or could be I'm just on crack? And if you haven't noticed, my Italian sucks...
